When we first came here I was pretty shocked. Ok, really shocked. Ok, super-duper shocked. Everything was so different. I guess to condense my shock into as few words as possible: some parts of Naples look... very in need of some TLC ... and other parts look so pretty with their vineyards, orchards, fields and rustic buildings. And there was a smell here that I have never smelled before in my life.... a mixture of sulfur vents, cigarette smoke, and trash. Mix in the summer humidity, AND my pregnancy-induced-super-sense-of-smell, and morning sickness... yeah, I was a little overwhelmed!
Anyway, here are some of our first pictures of downtown Naples, rustic and non rustic.

I really LOVE the details on the buildings. |

We were told that because the Roman Soldiers liked to march in the shade, these trees are traditionally trimmed high for just that reason. |

A load of whites.... |

Even in Downtown Naples laundry floats in the Mediterranean breeze. |

I have no idea what these are but I loved all the shapes. |

Even the tunnels have rustic details. |

Buildings, tunnels and traffic... traffic needs a post all of it's own. |
